Is Byron Hamburgers’ Fromagemas The UK’s Cheesiest Burger?

 In BLOG

Byron Hamburgers claim to have created the UK’s cheesiest burger so, of course, I had to check it out for myself.  Every year Byron Hamburgers run a special Cheesemas menu and this year the centrepiece is the Fromagemas which comes with a whopping 6 different types of cheese.  Sweet cheesus!

The 6oz burger is the ultimate indulgence for cheese lovers with every inch of it covered in cheese.  It comes with layers of Red Leicester and Cheddar produced by Barber’s who are the oldest cheddar-makers in the world.  Then there’s a crispy wafer of Grana Padano adding a tangy kick to the burger and if that wasn’t enough cheese already there’s also a jug of hot Byron cheese sauce for you to pour over the patty.  You can never have too much cheese on a burger, right?

If you want to satisfy your cheese cravings some more you can double up with the Grande Fromagemas.  Unfortunately, I have a party dress to fit into in a couple of weeks so I didn’t want to overindulge.  The burger was really filling so I’m glad that I stuck to the single patty – something I thought I would never say!

The Cheesemas menu also includes Holy Macaroni and Holy Cheese Balls.  Holy Macaroni is your classic macaroni cheese but they have added a kick to it with roasted green peppers and green chillies.  The Holy Cheese Balls are macaroni cheese bites topped with buffalo glaze, Byron cheese sauce, spring onions and crispy bacon.  I’m kicking myself that I didn’t order them but it might be an excuse to go back!

Byron Hamburgers is known as the posh burger place so I was expecting to pay a lot more than what I did.  They have a special deal on where you can get the Fromagemas, any side and a drink for only £16.95 which is great value for money.

I decided to celebrate Cheesemas in style with a glass of prosecco rather than the usual standard pint. Turns out burgers and bubbles go great together.  For a side, I opted for the classic macaroni cheese which was mac-nificent.  It was all gooey and full of flavour – but they could probably lay off the pepper a bit.

As you can tell I loved my visit to Byron Hamburgers and I’ll definitely be back – maybe sooner rather than later so I can have a crack at the Grande Fromagemas.  Not only did the menu have me drooling but it was reasonably priced and the service was outstanding.  The staff were really friendly and seen to our every whim.

I don’t know about you but I have never heard of Cheesemas until now even though it’s been running for the past five years.  Seriously where have I been?  Always late to the party.  Forget the panto and the Christmas market, a trip to Byron Hamburgers is a new family tradition that we’ll be doing every Christmas from now on.

Don’t forget the Cheesemas menus is only available for a limited time throughout the festive season so you better get your skates on if you want to try the Fromagemas.
